SPEAC training compared electrical product safety requirements comparison in US, EU and China

This webinar of the EU-funded SPEAC project on “Electrical Product Safety Requirements Comparison in US, EU and China” was held in cooperation with Ningbo Customs District Technology Center and the Consumer Product Safety Commission of the United States (CPSC) on 25 May 2022. Nearly 1,500 participants, manufacturers of typical electrical consumer products and associated services, viewed the webinar from 4 broadcasting platforms.

China, US and EU are the largest markets for electrical products with strict requirements for product safety. This webinar introduced the regulatory framework of electrical products in US, EU and China, and compared the different requirements for conformity assessment, third-party testing, recalls and other matters in the three regions, as well as provided resources and links to more information.

The 90-minutes online training was moderated by SPEAC Team Leader Dr. Gerhard Weihs, video welcome was addressed by EU Commissioner Didier Reynders and opening remarks was addressed by Richard O’Brien, director of the Office of International Programs of CPSC. The CPSC senior expert Richard O’Brien and Andrew Trotta were invited, together with the SPEAC key expert Mr. John Lawrence, senior Product Safety experts Torben Rahbek and Dr. Deng Yun, to deliver the training presentation and answer dozens of questions raised by the audiences.
