China Toy Expo, the biggest expo of toy industry in Asia, has been organized by CTJPA in Shanghai every October for 19 years. The expo of last year attracted 2,508 exhibitors, 4,859 brands, and more than 100.000 buyers. Because of COVID-19, the scale of the expo 2020 was reduced regards overseas buyers, and the marketing channel of cross-border e-commerce became more popular and important.

SPEAC was invited to present at the 2020 Cross-border E-commerce Industry Exchange Forum at the Expo, organized by the China Toys & Juvenile Products Association (CTJPA) which is a key partner of the SPEAC project. This forum had three sessions on 21 and 22 Oct, addressing the South -East Asia market, new markets (Latin America, etc.) and the developed markets in North America, Europe, Japan, etc. The SPEAC presentation was in the last category of the developed markets.

The presentation titled as “The latest EU Product Safety Policy Advocacy and Cross- Border E- Commerce” was delivered by SPEAC Key Expert Dr. LIU Kaiming, on site in Chinese. More than 300 participants listened on site. The forum was also broadcasted online; and there were over 300 IDs accesses to the live stream meeting room during the SPEAC speech.

The feedback from audiences, other speakers and the organizer CTJPA was very positive. Some cross-border e-commerce platforms, such as Amazon and AliExpress, and online learning service providers, local industrial organizations, research institutions, expressed their interest in cooperating with SPEAC. Toy manufactories, testing & inspection companies and merchants (including traditional offline wholesalers and e-commerce online storekeepers) shared their concerns about product safety and exporting to Europe. CTJPA discussed to expand and upgrade cooperation with SPEAC.
