First Train-of-Trainers Program on EU Product Safety Regulations Launched in Xiamen

From May 20th to 23rd, the SPEAC Project and the GACC International Inspection and Quarantine Standards and Technical Regulations Research Center successfully conducted the inaugural edition of the Train-of-Trainers Program on EU Product Safety Regulations in Xiamen.

The event was opened by Zheng Zhang, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Commodity Inspection at the General Administration of Customs of China, and Tamas Molnar, First Counsellor at the Delegation of the European Union to China.

This newly developed programme is designed specifically for China’s customs officials, equipping them with the latest developments in the EU’s product safety regulations. It aims to ensure that customs authorities have the tools and expertise necessary to enhance compliance and protect consumer safety.

The three-and-a-half-day training featured a comprehensive curriculum, covering:

  • International, European, and Chinese frameworks for non-food product safety.
  • Best practices and approaches for ensuring the safety of specific product categories in both the EU and China.
  • Emerging trends in product safety, with a focus on e-commerce control.

This event marked an important step forward in building the capacity of Chinese customs officials to navigate and apply EU product safety regulations, ultimately supporting safer and more compliant trade between China and the EU.
